Usually, the watch case is made of stainless steel, such as 304 and 316 of the 3 series, which are both highly corrosion-resistant stainless steels, so generally no surface treatment is required. However, since a unique color is required, surface treatment needs to be considered to improve its appearance.
The surface treatment of stainless steel can be divided into polished surface treatment and electroplated surface treatment. First of all, polished surface is to use professional grinding tools to polish the regular surface into a mirror effect, also known as mirror polishing. This surface treatment is relatively typical. There are also some flat shapes that are difficult to polish with mirror polishing effects. Brushed polishing came into being. Brushed polishing can make the metal surface smoother and have regular line traces. It can effectively polish away knife marks and scratches left by mechanical processing.

The second is electroplating surface treatment. Electroplating is a chemical surface treatment process. It can produce different appearance colors, but polishing cannot change the appearance color of the metal. Before electroplating, the metal surface will be polished. The advantage of polishing is to make the surface flat, so that the electroplating effect is more attractive. If a watch is gold, it has undergone both physical and chemical surface treatment processes, and its surface cost price will also increase.

In summary, if you want to be more environmentally friendly, then it is better to choose a polished watch. On the contrary, if you need a unique and eye-catching appearance, electroplating different colors will be more attractive. The electroplating process is somewhat environmentally unfriendly, but the finished product after electroplating generally has no adverse effects on the human body in the case of non-edible.
